POSITION: Programme Co-ordinator – ‘Grow Cook Care Share’
HOURS: Part-time – 2/3 days a week – flexible
LOCATION: Hope Farm Community Garden – Hawkhurst
SALARY: £15 p/h
We are seeking an experienced Programme Co-ordinator to assist in the delivery of our new programme, “Grow-Cook-Care-Share” which will use horticulture, cooking, and nature-based activities to combat food poverty, loneliness, and skills deficits – fostering healthier, happier communities.
Our aim is to extend our engagement with young people in and out of education, vulnerable groups, families, and older adults in learning, wellness, and social activities. Using our new facilities, we aim to enhance physical activity, healthy eating, education, community cohesion, skills development, and social inclusion.
We will achieve this through:
- Food Growing: volunteering and skills sessions in organic horticulture, composting and seed saving.
- Food Distribution: Volunteer-led, Growing, Harvesting and Distributing in-season fruit and vegetables to local food banks.
- Social Therapeutic Horticulture: Supporting vulnerable groups to utilise the garden in partnership with local health organisations, schools, community groups.
- Cooking & Nutrition: “Field to Fork” and In-Season Cookery sessions for all ages and abilities including cooking, food preservation and reducing food waste.
- Environmental Heritage: Bushcraft, foraging, wild cooking, and land management activities, to develop skills while improving mental and physical health.
- Helping Hands Lunch Clubs: monthly social clubs for older people in Rother and West Kent, tackling rural isolation.
- Community Outreach: Digital resources (recipe cards, growing instructions) for our registered ‘growers’ (individuals, schools, groups) to encourage home growing for healthier eating.
