We’re absolutely delighted to launch a brand new seasonal cookery workshop series celebrating the incredible organic produce growing right here in our Market Garden!

Running from May to October, this special six-workshop series takes you on a culinary journey through the seasons—from spring’s vibrant rhubarb to autumn’s hearty pumpkins—showcasing the very best of what our market garden has to offer at each stage of the growing year.

A different kind of workshop experience

While our free Grow, Cook, Care, Share workshops continue to provide essential cooking skills and community support for those who need it most, these new Seasonal Harvest workshops offer something complementary, a longer, more immersive experience for anyone wanting to deepen their connection with seasonal, organic produce and explore creative ways to cook with what’s growing right outside our door.

Each three-hour session combines harvesting fresh ingredients from our organic market garden with hands-on cooking in our beautiful cookery school.

The seasonal journey

Fresh Start to Your Spring Weekend: The Rhubarb Harvest (Friday 5th May) Kick off spring by harvesting the very first fruit of the year! We’ll create poached rhubarb and handmade granola—a breakfast masterpiece that can be stored and enjoyed for months. Perfect for moving beyond the crumble!

Discover the Joys of June: The Versatile Radish (Friday 19th June) Think radishes are just for salads? Join us to use the whole plant—crisp radish and vibrant leaves—to create radish leaf soup with caraway and handmade flatbreads. This overlooked spring gem will truly root you to the spot!

Broad Beans & Fennel (Friday 10th July) Celebrate summer with a dish that throws boring salads out the window! Quinoa, broad bean, fennel & chilli salad is cool as a cucumber (though the chilli adds a lovely kick!). The ultimate prep-ahead meal that lasts 5 days in the fridge.

The Mighty Aubergine (Friday 14th August) Impress guests with miso-glazed aubergine and nutritious vegetable rice—a dish that looks like a gourmet masterpiece but is secretly a breeze to make. Quick, simple, tasty, and bursting with plant points!

September Abundance: The Versatile Courgette (Friday 11th September) Got a garden overflowing with courgettes? We’ll show you that when cooked right, they’re nothing short of delish! Learn the secrets to crisp pastry and creamy filling in a beautiful courgette & ricotta tart with fresh tomato salad. Summer on a plate!

The Hearty Harvest (Friday 9th October) As autumn arrives, embrace the season with roasted pumpkin, kale, chickpeas and tahini dressing. Plus, we’ll show you how to turn leftovers into warming soup for the freezer—a masterclass in autumnal comfort that’s as practical as it is delicious.

Two workshop offerings, one mission

We want to be clear: our free Grow, Cook, Care, Share workshops continue exactly as before, providing essential cooking skills, community connection, and support for anyone facing food poverty, isolation, or needing to build kitchen confidence. These workshops remain completely free and open to all.

This new Seasonal Harvest series sits alongside our free provision as a complementary offering—a chance for those who are able to pay to enjoy longer, more immersive seasonal cooking experiences while supporting our wider charitable work. By attending these paid workshops, you’re helping us continue to provide free workshops for those who need them most.

Both workshop series share our core values: celebrating good food, building skills, creating community, and connecting people with where their food comes from. We believe everyone should have access to great cooking education—whether that’s through our free workshops or these special seasonal sessions.
