Hands of Hope remember an amazing lady
Lesley first contacted Hands of Hope in May 2017. She visited Hope Farm on a glorious spring morning and, after copious amounts of tea and chatter she left full of enthusiasm for what we were planning and full of ideas on how we could collaborate both professionally and personally.
We made a connection and a friend. We had Northern Ireland in common, a love of children and their wellbeing in common, an interest in organic growing and cooking and the positive impacts this can have on people but most of all we enjoyed spending time nattering and laughing.
Our time included numerous emails busting full of ideas for developing a Living Garden at The Priory School, as well as planning our many meet ups where we picked, washed, chopped and generally laughed our way through making Halloumi wraps and Pav Bhaji for our Live Life on the Veg, cook van.
We spent last summer serving for four days at Weald of Kent Craft Fair followed by a fun-filled day where we enjoyed the bustle and fun at Little Gate Farm’s Big Festival. At no stage did we know that Lesley was ill. Her courage and determination to get on with life, giving 110% with no reference to her personal battle is a true reflection of the lady she was.
We are grateful to have shared those moments with Lesley and so happy that the time we shared was merry and bright.
