Enabling people and communities to lead healthier and happier lives by connecting them to nature and each other

Grow, cook, care, share

Using horticulture, cooking, and nature-based activities to combat food poverty, loneliness, and skills deficits, fostering healthier, happier communities.

Grow, Cook, Share, Care is a volunteer-led, programme engaging vulnerable groups, those with complex needs, families and older people, in learning, wellness and social activities aligned to growing, cooking, and nature. Using modern facilities, we are enhancing physical activity, healthy eating, education, community cohesion, skills development, and social inclusion across Rother, Hastings, and West Kent.

The project is being delivered in purpose-built facilities including an accessible Community Cookery School, Victorian Glasshouse, and large classroom as well as our market garden and cut flower garden. The new buildings incorporate renewable energy and rainwater harvesting, helping us deliver our programmes efficiently.

Grow, Cook, Care, Share is providing multiple positive outcomes for adults and children living with food poverty, physical and mental health conditions, unemployment and social isolation by engaging beneficiaries in social, skills, and wellbeing activities linked to growing, cooking, food preservation, and nature.

The programme includes:

  • Horticulture and estate management work experience opportunities for 16 – 24 year olds
  • Supporting food banks with tonnes of in-season fresh produce
  • Social and skills horticulture sessions
  • Field to Fork primary school visits
  • Field to Fork children’s holiday activities
  • Field to Fork cookery and Food preservations workshops supporting bolder people, young carers and young adults with learning disabilities
  • Food preservation children’s holiday activities
  • Wild foraging and cookery sessions for adults and children

We look forward to welcoming you here at Hands of Hope and thank you for your support.
