Enabling people and communities to lead healthier and happier lives by connecting them to nature and each other

KINDLING VOLUNTEER SOUGHT FOR ‘KIND KINDLING’

13 November 2024

Kindling volunteer for local community charity, Hands of Hope, to support our weekly kindling project – ‘Kind Kindling’ – June to October 2025

Do you have a passion for all things wood? Do you have 4 hours a week to spare to help us set up and deliver our ‘Chop and Chat’ programme where men and women are invited to come and chop, dry and package wood for our Kind Kindling project which donates logs and kindling to families suffering from heat poverty as well as generating income for the charity?

We are an organic Market & Cut Flower Garden based in Hawkhurst – Hope Farm Community Garden. We are a no-dig, Soil Association Accredited community space. Set up in 2016 by the current trustees, we have restored and developed a neglected Edwardian walled kitchen garden and 22 acres of National Landscape land whilst conserving the site’s natural heritage.  We deliver programmes aimed at tackling rural isolation, loneliness, and food poverty, as well as improving mental, physical & environmental health for communities throughout Rother, Hastings, & West Kent. We are recipients of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

As the cost of living crisis continues to affect the poorest in our communities, our Kind Kindling project aims to help those struggling to stay warm in old properties where an open fire or log burner is the main source of heat.

We are reaching out to people with experience or passion for all things logs and kindling who could help us set up this initiative as well as working with us for 4 hours per week, starting as soon as possible.
