MICROHERBS VOLUNTEER SOUGHT FOR ‘MAGIC MICROGREENS’

27 November 2024

Microgreens growing volunteer sought for local community charity, Hands of Hope, to support our weekly microgreen project – ‘Magic Microgreens’

Do you have a passion for all things microgreens? Do you have 4 hours a week to spare to help us set up, launch and deliver our microgreens programme?

We are an organic Market & Cut Flower Garden based in Hawkhurst – Hope Farm Community Garden. We are a no-dig, Soil Association Accredited community space. Set up in 2016 by the current trustees, we have restored and developed a neglected Edwardian walled kitchen garden and 22 acres of National Landscape land whilst conserving the site’s natural heritage.  We deliver programmes aimed at tackling rural isolation, loneliness, and food poverty, as well as improving mental, physical & environmental health for communities throughout Rother, Hastings, & West Kent. We are recipients of The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service.

Due to the success of our ‘Get Growing’ project, and as a part of our wider vision to get people eating more portions of their 5 a day, we are launching our ‘Magic Microgreens’ project. This will teach people the benefits and nutritional value of micro-greens as well as how to grow them at home. We will also sell microgreens on-site to help generate income for the charity.

We are reaching out to people with experience or passion for growing microgreens or hydroponics to help us set up this initiative.
